The Muskoka Paramedic Association (MPA) has been in existence for a number of years. Formerly the Employees Association of Muskoka Ambulance (EAMA), the new MPA remains the legal bargaining unit that represents the 70+ Paramedics working for Medavie EMS Ontario. Medavie EMS Ontario was awarded the contract to provide ambulance service to the District Municipality of Muskoka starting January 2009. The MPA also represents Communication Operators working for Muskoka ACS (Ambulance Communications Service) in Bracebridge.
The MPA has been very involved in assisting local charities, most recently Camp Oochigeas (Camp Ooch), with our Annual Softball Tournament. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the event. Details of the event can be found in the Softball Tournament section of our website.
Over $18,000 in the last few years has been donated to Camp Ooch which is a year-round camp for children affected by childhood cancer. We encourage you to read more about them at their website, www.campooch.org.
